UWEG: University of Waterloo Ecology Group

UWEG

The University of Waterloo Ecology Group (UWEG) was founded in 2010 with the purpose of fostering communication and collaboration between researchers within the general field of ecological science at the University of Waterloo (UW), Canada. UWEG is a student-run, informal association, and our diverse membership includes students and faculty in both the terrestrial and aquatic sciences from various departments and faculties at UW.
We meet bi-weekly for the presentation and discussion of original data as well as topics of general ecological interest. These meetings offer an excellent opportunity to learn about the research of peers, practice conference presentations, and share scientific ideas. Oral presentations are typically 30-40 minutes in duration with 10-20 minutes of questions and discussion.
A journal club is run on alternating weeks. UWEG members belong to a mailing list which organizers use to send out reminders of meetings and other information of interest, such as conferences, meetings, seminars and job postings.
The UWEG Co-chairs organize the meetings, manage the mailing list and generate the fall-winter speaker line-up; speakers are determined on a voluntary basis. If you have any questions, or if you or your research group would like to join UWEG, please contact either of the co-chairs
